Not with a fixed plan, not with strict rules, and usually not in the way I first imagined. My stories grow while I write, my characters often seem to have minds of their own, and sometimes a single idea suddenly takes me in a completely different direction.

Merlin and Balou – Two Lovable Animal Friends
Merlin and Balou are not fictional characters – they are my own pets. The stories in this book are based on their real-life adventures, which never fail to make me smile.
The introductory image shows Merlin and Balou as babies and is based on real photographs of them. AI-generated images were used for the other illustrations because the original photos could not be edited in the way needed for a children’s book. This made it possible to bring their funny adventures to life in a warm and child-friendly way.
